The Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC) have decided to take a combined admission test in public universities from the next 2021-2022 academic year. The examination test will be taken by dividing the same level universities into 03 groups.
Under these three groups, there will be five admission tests for 34 universities. Combined Admission Test 2021-2022
Although there is no HSC and equivalent examination in the coronavirus situation, the government has a plan to admit students in all the universities with the admission test in the combined system. Based on the results of JSC and SSC, the final assessment results of HSC will be announced by next December. So that the admission process in the university can start in January. The education minister said, “We hope we will be able to take admission tests in all types of universities in a combined admission test.”
Unified Admission Test 2021 Rules
The Universities of the same stream will be grouped together and take the admission tests. Students will then be admitted according to merit and choice. For example, science and technology universities will be tested in one batch and agricultural universities in another batch. Similarly, one for general universities and another for engineering universities will be tested. At present students are admitted on the basis of an examination like the medicals admission process.
At present, there are 42 public universities in the country. Of these, 37 are effective. As the admission test of each university at different times, the students suffer, and extra money is spent. For this reason, the Ministry of Education has been trying for a long time to take admission tests on a bunch basis in universities like the medical admission test. But it could not be launched due to objections from some universities, especially large ones. There are allegations that some universities do not want to take the admission tests in this manner due to fear of not getting a huge honorarium for applying for the admission tests.
Why this Combined Method?
At present, there are 46 public universities in the country. Of these, 60,000 seats in 39 universities are open to graduates (honours) in the first year.
As universities conduct admission tests in different ways, students who pass HSC have to sit for exams from one end of the country to the other.
Students have to take different types of preparation for different universities to take the admission tests in the same subject. Again, if the date of examination is read in more than one university in one day, the student has to choose any one educational institution.
The Ministry of Education and UGC have been trying to get admission in all public universities through a comprehensive examination for the last few years to alleviate the suffering of the students and the expenses of the parents.
