What Is an HSC?

HSC is a public examination in Bangladesh. HSC stands for Higher Secondary Certificate. Also, it is known as the intermediate examination. After completing the Secondary School Certificate exam, students join a college for two years for higher secondary education. After finishing two years of education student sit for another public examination called the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination. Alim and “A” level, sit for the exam by the Madrasah Education Board and London/Cambridge University respectively to qualify for the next education. There are nine education board are responsible for this exam.

How GPA is Calculated in HSC

After completing the SSC (Secondary School Certificate) exam students mainly gain the ability to select a group. There are three groups in our educational system.

• Science
• Business Studies
• Humanities

Students are given subjects as per their groups. The common subject of each group is English, Bangla, and ICT. They can also select an optional subject which is known as the fourth subject.

Students should participate in all exam. If any subject’s result fails then the total result will be shown fail.

They have to pass individually both objective and subjective. Also, they need to pass in practical marks. Optional or Fourth Subject marks will be added by subscription of two (2).

Finally, the total grade point will be calculated and then it will be divided by total subjects. This team is known as Grade Point Average or GPA.
